Is this boy cute, or what?!?!?!

And he is about as sweet as he is cute. We are so blessed to have such a good baby.

Merry Christmas - part 2

Around 11:30 a.m. we headed over to my mom's house. She made a delicious Christmas dinner. Then we opened our presents. One of Troy's gifts was a Wii Fit so most of the afternoon was spent playing that and also Wii sports. Fun!!!

Here are a few pics from this afternoon...

That big present was a snow sled!!!

Merry Christmas - part 1

Miracle of all miracles, I was able to sleep in until 8 a.m. this morning. I suppose that was MY Christmas gift, and a great one at that! Baby A woke up in a great mood, too. (Which is actually pretty normal for him)

We opened our gifts and enjoyed our time together as a new family in our new home. It was truly peaceful and wonderful.

Here are a few photos we snapped this morning. Enjoy!

Let's get this party started!

Swimming!

When I was pregnant with A, Troy and I would go swimming. It was wonderful! I haven't been since then... until today. Troy suggested it and I wondered why I hadn't thought of that before.

This is our public swimming pool:

A with Daddy (before Daddy had to go to work):

In the water!

Not only did Baby A enjoy being in the water, I also realized how out of shape I am. And it wasn't just from seeing myself in the mirror LOL, but from swimming. That is great exercise and I realize why I enjoyed it so much. We have a pool in our "neighborhood" so I hope to take A often come summertime. Both A and I could use the exercise and FUN!

Can it be... 8 months old already

Baby A is already 8 months old. How is this possible?

He's about 27" tall and weighs 20 lbs. 3 oz. He's a big boy, but has slowed down a lot on his weight gain.

What is Baby A up to these days?
His first tooth is still (very slowly) working its way out
He rolls ALL over the place and is quite quick
He's making lots of new sounds (na na na na... being the most recent)
He's learned the fine art of pouting (it's quite comical)
He LOVES to stand up
He's learning to pull himself up while holding onto our hands (not pulling up on other things yet, though)
He'll play by himself for a little while, but prefers company
He's eating solids once every few days or so and LOVING it
He's not keen on taking naps, but sleeps great through the night (with a few exceptions)
He's pretty social... always hamming it up around strangers
He LOVES seeing his Daddy after he's been gone fo work/school for awhile
He's VERY ticklish

Not so keen on beta-carotene

Well, that may not be true... but for now he's not sure about carrots. It might be because I didn't puree them enough. He ate them, mind you, he just didn't seem very pleased with them.

Also... there are some more wonderful giveaways going on at The Adventures of Super-mommy, Spitup Boy, and Baby Z.

Precious boys...

(Baby A is in awe of his pal and 2nd cousin - P)

Added Thurs. 12-18-08 A is our sweet potato sweetie.
I'm making homemade baby food for him. Today I made sweet potatoes and also butternut squash. It's SO easy to do. You just cook it in the oven and then puree it. So simple and so healthy. He LOVED the sweet potatoes. He seems to want to feed himself most of the time. I guess we are in for some messy eating sessions... but it'll be fun!

First tooth

Well, Baby A is officially getting his first tooth! I was pretty sure he was teething. I can barely feel and see the tooth starting to come through.

Once the tooth is more visible, I will make sure to take pics.

Yummy!

Well, we kinda started Baby A on eating solids. I'm sure you're all thinking "Finally!"

Here are the highlights from the first try:

Daddy was eating some homemade sorbet. (We have this awesome juicer that also makes sorbet) Baby A looked interested in it, so Daddy gave him a tiny bit on the tip of his spoon.

Baby A opened his mouth wide for the bite.

Then he smacked his lips a lot.

Then he wiggled a lot, seemingly wanting more!

Finally, it was "All Gone"

We gave him some more food today. Homemade apple smoosh. (I'd say applesauce, but I'm not sure that's quite accurate) He loved it and grabbed the spoon right out of my hand and shoved it in his mouth.

What kind of monster have we created? A really cute, chunky one!

And there is more really cool I'm Dreaming of a Green Christmas stuff at The Adventures of Super-mommy, Spitup Boy & Baby Z. Go check it out!

Brrr!

Today it is VERY cold outside. Beautiful, but cold.

All bundled up

And for fun, a pic of A with daddy a few days ago on his dinner break

And in case you've forgotten what a big boy he is

I'm dreaming of a GREEN Christmas

I found this site today: Adventures of Super-Mommy, Spitup Boy, and Baby Z. The site will be having lots of neat "green" holiday giveaways and some coupons for online stores. Most of what is on there now is cloth diaper related. Since we use cloth diapers around here, that sort of stuff is right up our alley.

Speaking of cloth diapers... we are still using them full time and going strong. Big boy that he is, A outgrew the infant sized prefolds awhile back and is using the regular/premium size. I swear, this boy is huge. He is wearing 12 month sized clothing.

Here is a pic of him from today wearing the shorties (hand knit wool shorts) I made him.

Hopefully they are big enough to fit him come spring time. I am working a pair of longies (hand knit wool pants) to match the earflap hat I made a few months ago. Maybe they will be done before winter is over. LOL I have so many ideas for projects, but not enough time to complete them all. As A gets older, I imagine I will have less and less crafting time. However, he's so cute and fun to play with that I don't mind one bit!

Oh, oh, oh... I almost forgot to mention that we bought a camera while my dad was here visiting. That means we will be back to taking lots of pictures to post on our picasa site!!!

Too fast

Why does time with family always pass by too fast?
Why do babies grow up too fast?

It was so nice to have family here for the holidays. We snapped a few photos of our adventures...

We spent the first part of Thanksgiving with my cousin and her husband and son. They were quite gracious to let us join in on their feast. A had a great time with his cuz:

And here is our happy family:

This photo of A cracks me up, because it makes him look even chubbier than usual (which is pretty hard to do!)

My dad and 2 of my sisters were here on Thanksgiving. They stayed for a few days and we had a great time. A loves his grandpa and his aunts!!! Hopefully next time more of the family will get to come. Here a few pics from their visit:

It snowed while they were here, and the girls loved playing out in the snow!!! I have a few photos of that on a disposable camera that I will try to remember to add later.

Today we had some more family come to visit. Troy's mom and great aunt from OKC and his aunt and uncle from Windsor, CO were here.

Also, my mom came up to visit today.

We all had a great time. It has been a bit stressful and hectic here with moving and trying to get the house presentable for guests. It was nice to just slow down and enjoy the time with family. I just wish the time didn't seem to fly by so quickly.

Before I forget... here is a photo taken from our deck this morning. We live in a winter wonderland. It is beautiful here.

Added Dec 1st... time for Granny G and Aunt Dorothy to go home. We will miss you both!

Sitting

Our BFB (big fat baby) can now sit up by himself! Sure, he's a bit wobbly at times... but he's sitting. He seems to like this new perspective.

And just because he's so darn chubby and cute, here's a close-up

Oh, and he's saying ma-ma now. I think he suspects that means me, because he notices it gets him a lot of attention from me when he says it.

In our new home

Well, we closed on the house 2 weeks ago. We have some organizing, cleaning and painting to do still, but otherwise have things in order. We love it up here in the mountains. It is beautiful and peaceful here. The weather has been absolutely beautiful.

Baby A seems to be enjoying his new home (though I'm sure he misses his Grams). We have taken walks the last two days and seen deer and even a bear. I admit, the bear was scary. I wish I would have taken a photo... but I was more interested in getting away before I scared the mama bear.

There's a lot of work to be done
