Father's Day
Troy built a nice platform so that I could paint our living room. This was no small feat since the walls are about 15' high. I still can't believe I painted the whole room myself. We had a few challenges, but Troy is the ultimate problem solver... and I lived to tell the tale. Ha! We also finished up a few other small projects (new light fixtures & ceiling fans, outdoor landscaping etc.)
ZZ played soccer (he was very shy at first, but eventually warmed up to playing).
The boys caught some cool critters (a snake, toad, praying mantis, snails, etc.), played in the rain and we all went on some great bike rids.
We enjoyed our newly renovated neighborhood pool - sometimes with neighbors or visiting family!
And the boys gobbled up plenty of watermelon this summer.
Then it was time for (home)school to start again, but the fun didn't end there...
We've done some neat science experiments. We learned about snails, caterpillars, and many other interesting creatures. We took a few fun trips to the zoo.The boys really enjoyed watching caterpillars transform into butterflies... and then releasing them.
Then we traveled to Texas to help Troy's brother and sis-in-law celebrate their 25th anniversary. We also got to spend some time with Troy's oldest sis and family, as well as with Grandma GG.
And the kids wouldn't want me to forget about trick-or-treating.
This little guy... well, can you help but smile yourself when you see THIS happy face? This little distraction, I mean helper, likes to bring lots of laughs (and sometimes screams) to schooltime. He will be 2 later this week. He's pretty agile and has great fine motor skills (we have to take babyproofing extra seriously with him). He's not much of a talker yet, but his new favorite word is MINE!
And this little dude... he is learning so much. He is quite the little sponge. He's pretty good with his alphabet and numbers up to 10. Sometimes he asks to do his schoolwork and he takes it very seriously... well, for a 4 year old. ZZ is so much fun. If he's in full costume, please make sure to call him Batman instead of ZZ.
And our oldest... serious, smart and sometimes rather silly. He loves to read (which I think is awesome)! He's great with numbers and science. He wants to be a chemist when he grows up so that he can rule the world through chemistry. Evildoers beware.
And last, but not least, earlier this month we went camping. I really enjoyed it, except overnight when it got so cold. Luckily, the others were in extreme weather military sleeping bags. We went to the Wichita Mtn Wildlife Refuge near Lawton, OK. It was beautiful there and as a bonus it isn't too far from home. We'll have to go back sometime (and hopefully do a little rock climbing then).
